CleanShare Philosophy
Sunday, May 30, 2010 at 10:00PM Despite ever-increasing demand for energy to power our lifestyles, individuals are becoming more conscious of their environmental impact. They recognize the issues and impact of traditional “brown” energy sources, and, as a result, are more frequently looking for ways to reduce their footprint and find sources of clean and safe energy to meet their current and future energy needs.
CleanShare believes that, in the future, a larger amount of this clean energy will be locally generated and close to the load. Much like large mainframe computers gave way to smaller PCs, large distant generation facilities designed to service many, will give way to highly-distributed, local generation that will improve reliability, increase efficiency, and economically meet local energy needs. These energy sources will be clean and based on energy resources that are basically limitless.
Much like the growth of the PC and cellphone, CleanShare believes that distributed clean generation will rapidly increase in energy output, improved efficiency, and lower costs. It is rapidly and dynamically deployed from a financial, real estate footprint, and transmission line perspective. Technical advances are rapidly emerging that address renewable energy shortcomings associated with variability and dispatchability; we believe that, much like the speed of PC development, these developments are around the corner and will quickly come.
As this energy becomes more distributed, utilities will need new software platforms to manage and deploy highly distributed clean energy resources. New business models will emerge. CleanShare is developing comprehensive software platforms for utilities and communities to efficiently manage these challenges and is positioned at the forefront of the software platforms that will monitor and eventually manage these systems.
